FAQ
- What is AEO?
- AEO (answer engine optimization) is making your pages easy for AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews to read, understand and quote. It's the next layer on top of SEO: SEO aims to rank your page in a list of links, and AEO aims to make your page the answer.
- How is AEO different from SEO?
- SEO works to get your page ranked in search results, while AEO works to get it quoted in AI answers. This audit checks what makes a page easy to quote: a clear direct answer near the top, clean heading structure, FAQ content, structured data, and content crawlers can read without running JavaScript.
- What does my AEO score mean?
- Your AEO score shows how ready one page is for AI answer engines, across nine factors plus a structured-data bonus of up to 15 points. It's calculated by code, not AI, so the same page always gets the same score. It measures readiness. It doesn't measure or guarantee citations or rankings.
- What is a good AEO score?
- An AEO score of 80 or above is rated Strong. 60 to 79 is rated Good, 40 to 59 is rated Needs work and below 40 is rated Weak. Scores are out of 100, with any structured-data bonus shown separately, and the results list what's holding each factor back.
- Which platforms does the audit work on?
- The audit works on any public website, whatever it's built with: WordPress, Lovable, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Next.js or plain HTML. It reads the page the way a crawler does, without running JavaScript, so it also flags pages that only show their content after JavaScript runs, and the Fix Pack explains how to prerender them.
- What do I do with the results?
- Open the Fix Pack, pick your platform and apply the fixes it gives you. You get a ready-to-paste prompt for Lovable or an AI code editor (Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, Bolt or v0), or a checklist for WordPress or any other site, plus structured data (JSON-LD) to add where your page needs it. Then run the audit again in the same browser to see what improved and what's left.
- Can you fix it for me?
- Yes, for $497 we apply the fixes across your whole site, up to 25 pages (your homepage, key pages and most important posts). Larger sites get a custom quote. Use the "Want it done for you?" link on this page, or "Get these fixes done for me" in your results, to book a call.
- Is it really free?
- Yes, the audit is free, with no signup and no payment. To keep it available for everyone, each visitor can run up to 10 audits every 10 minutes and 60 a day.
- Why can't it audit my page?
- The audit can only read public pages that return HTML within 10 seconds, and it sees only what a logged-out visitor sees. It can't reach private or internal addresses. A page behind a login or paywall is audited as the login or paywall page, or not at all if the site returns an error. A firewall or bot protection that turns the audit away stops it with an error. Blocking AI crawlers in robots.txt doesn't stop the audit; it shows up in the agent readiness checks instead.
